Debbie and I love going to Mon Ami here in Reston. In addition, we adore their Moules Marinieres and will go there just to eat that dish along with a bottle of wine (or at least that is what we tell ourselves before we end up ordering a full meal). We have made mussels at home several […]
Sous-vide or not Sous-vide
Beef
What is sous-vide?! That IS the question. Well, I didn’t know it was a question until I visited London last year and had the pleasure at eating at Dinner By Heston Blumenthal in the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. During dinner we had a chicken course that was made using the Sous-vide technique. I can tell you of […]
Thai Chicken Basil Stir Fry
Chicken
For this Friday Night Date night (at home) I was excited to break in my new Lodge Cast Iron Wok. Unfortunately, the sleet, freezing rain, and snow prevented me from cooking outdoors and I moved the operation inside. On tap was a good looking recipe I found on the Food & Wine website, Thai Chicken Basil Stir Fry.
Big Green Egg Baby Back Ribs with Gochujang BBQ Sauce
Pork
Want to spice up those baby back ribs?!?! Well try your ribs with Gochujang BBQ sauce! I have smoked ribs for years always using the 3-2-1 method. They always turn out great so I haven’t had the motivation to change… that is until I read a post from Kamado Jim about his Damn Simple, Damn Delicious […]
Seared Scallops with Cauliflower Risotto
Seafood

Rib Eye Steak with Miso Red Wine Marinade
Beef
This incredible recipe was found and adapted from an issue of Wine Spectator I received in 2014. The marinade is fantastic and really adds a new dimension to Rib Eye steaks. The Mushroom Panzanella was a great side dish for this delicious grilled steak! I paired this wonderful meal with a nice Malbec. Enjoy this interpretation of Rib […]
Summer Mushroom Panzanella
Beef, Sauces + Sides
Panzanella is a Tuscan salad usually made with bread and tomatoes. This recipe replaced the tomatoes with various mushrooms which really gave the Rib Eye steak a dose of umami which balanced the dining experience. This recipe for Summer Mushroom Panzanella pairs perfectly with the Rib Eye Steak with Miso Red Wine Marinade recipe I posted earlier.
Thai Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings

I had lunch with a friend of mine at a local Thai restaurant. On that day I decided to get the Thai Beef salad and it was so delicious I wanted to recreate that flavor profile at home on my BGE. I started to research the flavors of Thailand and in the process came across […]
