This is an occasion where I am more than happy to share the experience with all of you. The fine folks at TBJ Gourmet sent me some of their uncured Bacon Jam to try last week. Waiting for Bacon Jam to arrive is no easy task! I mean, it is bacon or is it jam? What do I put it on? How will I cook with it? TBJ Gourmet Bacon Jam Product Review

Bacon Jam at its core is bacon, brown sugar, onions and a whole lot of stirring. This goodness is cooked slowly until it has been reduced down and placed in a glass jar for ease of use. In essence, Bacon Jam is the best new condiment you will try this year!

After opening the jar and tasting the Bacon Jam I discovered this well balanced candied, salty, and smokey concoction. Bits of bacon marry well with the onions and caramelized sugar. This amazing condiment was screaming to be placed on freshly grilled sandwiches. Off to the Big Green Egg to cook up some tasty sandwiches to try this Bacon Jam with.

The first sandwich I tried was a big, fat, cheeseburger! The Bacon Jam adds both sweetness and a tiny bite of acidity from the onion which perfectly compliments a freshly grilled burger. I put lettuce on this burger for the picture but the Bacon Jam could have easily stood on its own.

Next up was a grilled chicken and Havarti cheese sandwich. On this sandwich the smokey flavor of the bacon was pronounced against the mild flavor of the chicken and silkiness of the Havarti. A perfect combination!

As we were dining on the sandwiches one though kept popping in to my head… this Bacon Jam screams charcuterie board! I usually put Fig Jam on my boards but knew this Bacon Jam would up my charcuterie board game. The next night I had friends over for some wine and decided to serve a simple charcuterie board with the Bacon Jam. It was the perfect compliment to the blue cheese, saucisson, and red wine. My guests immediately ordered the Bacon Jam for themselves.
